De acceleratie is adembenemend: van 0–100 km/u in slechts 3,0 seconden, 200 km/u in 8,7 seconden en een topsnelheid van 325 km/u, alles zonder merkbare turbolag of aarzeling.

Hoewel hij 50 kg zwaarder is dan de coupé en aan beide uiteinden verstevigd is voor extra stijfheid, voelt de Spider vrijwel identiek aan als de GTB. Het opvouwbare hardtopdak verdwijnt in slechts 14 seconden, en Ferrari claimt een identieke torsiestijfheid als bij de gesloten versie, dus de perfecte auto voor de zomer!
