XJ-SC, the XJS in Targa trim, manual transmission. Special, rare.
A wonderful Jaguar. To see, to drive. This XJS is different. the Targa roof with it’s two removable parts makes it a special experience. The five-speed manual transmission adds the necessary extra experience; the ideal recipe for sporty enjoyment in a classic Jaguar! The current, second owner has been enjoying this special XJ-SC for almost 20 years.
The Targa was only in production for two years, so production numbers are very low. A handful were delivered in the Netherlands, including this copy. The second owner bought the Jaguar from Jagpoint almost 20 years ago and had the XJS serviced there every year, in the spring, as mentioned. Of course all invoices are available. Some highlights from the maintenance history; In 2018, the XJSC was equipped with new brake discs and rear pads, a costly affair. The ECU or engine computer was overhauled in 2019 and the tires were renewed in 2020. Furthermore, a well-functioning cruise control has been installed and the air conditioning compressor was replaced in 2015.
There is nothing to complain about when driving, the XJSC steers wonderfully, the beautiful Nardi steering wheel in your hands. No vibrations, no rattles. The clutch engages well, the manual gearbox shifts smoothly. Just a nice and well-handling XJS that can provide lots of fun for years to come!
Partly due to the purchase of a Jaguar F-Type, it is now time for the XJ-SC to end up with a new enthusiast, he or she will be the third owner since 1985.
The XJ-SC is still in the same original condition as when purchased by the second owner, who wanted to preserve the original condition. Although the bottom and technology are in good order, the sheet metal and paintwork are in somewhat poorer condition. For example, the front right fender is dull, rust blisters can be seen in various places and it is noticeable that the Jaguar has been completely repainted once. Please remember that it is important that the bottom, chassis and technology in particular determine a classic; Rusty sheet metal is relatively easy to tackle, while renewing bottom parts can be a time-consuming and difficult job. This speaks in favor of this XJ-CS.
The rear seats in combination with the seat belts in the back makes it a real 2+2 targa, ideal for a small family! The interior is in excellent condition, but the leather upholstery is thin or torn in some places.
However, for me that is not the most important thing, because there is something that can be done about it. More importantly, it is an original classic with only 2 owners, well maintained. The targa roof makes it special, the five-speed gearbox even makes it unique. A collector’s item, ready to drive. Whether you want to get started with the optical matters or you want to drive straight away, in both cases optimal enjoyment is guaranteed.
There is still a lot to say about this Jaguar, but you will of course only get a good impression when you view and drive the car. you are very welcome in Oirschot, the coffee is ready.
