Opis pojazdu
Extra info: This Land Rover Series III 88” from 1971 is a delightful classic utility vehicle, which offers the 74hp 4 cylinder petrol engine with a newly fitted Weber carburettor, and is presented with a charming level of patina throughout.
Starting its life in the Belgium army in 1971, this Series III is a rare survivor of the only 1600 2X4 series III ever produced in the world. These vehicles were only used for in base military transport which results in great preservation of the frame and no rust. Beside, the car still has the orginal infrered lights fitted in the rear and back. It thus also have the famous 'black out' toggle that was used for operations in the dark using the infrared ligths. The Belgian army famously made a mistake and did not order 4X4's but 2X4 and thus the engine drives the back wheels via a four-speed manual transmission which today results in some increased fuel efficiency. The odometer indicates 70.701 km. In addition, it was fitted with new brakes and brake lines and breke pumps in 2021. Today, the bodywork remains in great shape resulting in tight panel gaps and no substantial dents or signs of structural damage to speak of. Owing to the vehicle’s age, its charming custom ‘Land rover Sand’ paintwork has an attractive light patina. While the finish has faded and there are a few minor scratches and marks to its surface, this only enhances its rugged appeal.
Further, the exterior trim, including the front grille and badges, presents very well, and a new galvanised front bumper has been fitted last year
aswell as some general light refurbishment was carried out. This includes new Deluxe front seats and replaced fuel gauge. The light bulbs and covers were also replaced. This Series III rides on a set of matching painted 16-inch ‘Wolf’ steel wheels, which were fitted on new BFGoodrich KM3 235/85r16 MUD tires and remain in new condition. Inside, the cabin is in good shape overall, with the scuffs, marks and general signs of age that can only be acquired over 53 years of use. In the rear, the load bay has clearly been used as intended, with various scars and beautiful patina to its surface.
The car had its last complete inspection in 2022 by an experienced land rover series specialist. All oils were changed, and the new Weber carburettor was fitted for increased fuel efficiency and an immediate start up even in cold weather. Far from being an over-restored show vehicle, this honest Series III is ready and waiting for its next owner to embark on an adventure, where it should prove to be a characterful and reliable companion. The car has always been stored inside.
Note: Set of original rims & tires are included. The orginal sidewindows, roofstructure and roofcover are also included. PLastic of the roofwindows is harded and would need replacement.
